Although the Western Heritage Church is associated with the Baptist General Convention of Texas and the Texas Fellowship of Cowboy Churches, it functions as an interdenominational fellowship gladly welcoming anyone who has accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, been scripturally baptized by immersion, and accepts the basic teachings of Christianity into its membership.
Do I have to be a cowboy to attend Western Heritage Church?
Absolutely not! Our members come from every background and walk of life. If you would rather wear jeans than dress up; if you enjoy country or bluegrass or gospel music; if you like rubbing elbows with plain, down-to-earth people; and if you want clear, simple sermons you can actually understand, you will love Western Heritage Church!
What happens at a Western Heritage Church worship service?
A worship service consists of songs from our Western Heritage Live band, an occasional testimony, and a 20 to 30-minute sermon that won’t leave you scratching your head.
How should I dress at a cowboy church?
Some people wear boots and jeans; some wear hats or caps; some wear shorts, and a few may wear a suit or dress. All of these are appropriate. The bottom line: wear whatever is comfortable to you. There is no pretense here. In fact, whether you wear boots, jeans, shorts, ball cap, suit, or a dress, everyone is welcome the same. But the really neat thing is, no one will notice the difference! The most important thing at Western Heritage Church is that we make ourselves at home with God and each other.
How can I become a member of Western Heritage Church?
There are three ways to become a member: At Western Heritage Church, we do not require people to walk down in front of the church to request membership. Instead, we use “blue sheets.” These are simple forms that you can fill out to request your membership. These forms may then be dropped in our offering churchhouse located on the back table of the worship center. The Pastor of Lay Pastor will contact you to confirm your information and address any questions you may have. Blue sheets are always available on the tables where you make your offerings.
- By statement of faith. This means that you have accepted Christ and been biblically baptized by immersion (i.e. “dunked”), but are unable to acquire a letter of church membership from another church. In this case, we will simply accept your word that you are a baptized believer and add you to our membership.
- By letter. This means that you have accepted Christ, been biblically baptized by immersion (i.e. “dunked”), and are a member of another church. In such a case, you may request that Western Heritage Church write to your previous church and request that they transfer your church membership to us.
- By baptism. This means that you have accepted Christ as your savior and desire to be baptized. Because deciding to follow Christ is such a significant decision, Western Heritage Church does not believe that any person can make this choice for another. For this reason, Western Heritage Church does NOT accept infant baptism.
